Promoting Collaboration and Innovation Across Europe
After the stops in Belgrade, Bratislava, and Prague, the Big Science Business Forum 2024 roadshow, traveling across Central Europe, has arrived in Poland. Indeed, yesterday, on April 16, 2024, the event took place at the Italian Embassy in Warsaw, bringing together representatives from the European Big Science community, polish institutional stakeholders and high-tech businesses.
The event, initiated with greetings from H.E. Luca Franchetti Pardo, Ambassador of Italy to Poland, featured contributions from Rafał Domisiewicz, CEI National Coordinator and Deputy Director for Central and South-Eastern Europe at the Department of European Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ketty Segatti, Head of the section of strategic innovation, research, and university projects of the Central Direction for Labor, Education, and Family of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region; and Michał Wierciński, Vice President of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA).
Following keynote speaker Paolo Acunzo, BSBF Trieste 2024 Director, presented BSBF running activities and organizations of next edition forum in Trieste (1-4 October). A significant participation of Polish space economy companies attended to the Roundtable “Opportunities of Big Science for local companies and stakeholders” took place, moderated by national ILO – Industrial Liaison Officer Sylwia Wójtowicz from PERIIA (Pan-European Research Infrastructure ILO Association), with the participation of Polish business representatives: Elżbieta Jeleń for Altrad Babcock Europe, Marcin Orzechowski for Bimotech, Marek Kubel for Grabau – Cloudferro, Anna Kamińska for Creotech Instruments and Piotr Osica – Spacive.
The upcoming stops on the BSBF 2024 are scheduled for April 30 at the London School of Economics and May 7 in Budapest. Currently, two BSBF calls for proposals are open: the “Big Science Common Market” which by May 6 will gather companies already collaborating with Big Science Organizations to standardize and optimize access procedures to the common market of BSOs, and the “Technology Transfer Track” with a deadline of June 30, aimed at the development of cross-sectoral technologies to be applied within the scope of Big Science.
Registrations are already open for the event to be held in Trieste from October 1 to 4, 2024, with Early Bird registration available until May 31.
