Maurizio Vannoni is a physicist specialized in optics. He has been in the scientific field of Applied Optics since 2021, after a brief experience in industry. He currently works at European XFEL in the Hamburg area, where he leads the X-ray Optics Group. The group is responsible to propose, design, procure, provide and commission Optics that extend and upgrade the European XFEL beam properties and actively increase the scientific output of the Facility. Before joining XFEL, he was a researcher at CNR, Italy’s largest public research institution, focusing on optical metrology for infrared and visible light optics. At XFEL, he is responsible for a wider range of devices and expertise, including X-ray mirrors, crystal optics, monochromators, attenuators, absorbers.
