Since February 2016, Jörg Blaurock is the joint Technical Managing Director of the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH (GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research) and the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe GmbH (FAIR GmbH). Prior to joining GSI/FAIR Mr. Blaurock was working more than 20 years in the international business worldwide realizing large-scale facilities in the field of petrochemical, chemical and power production. Jörg Blaurock studied mechanical engineering at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg during his 12-year career as an officer in the German army, where he worked until 1994.
