Sara Casalbuoni presently is the Head of the Undulator Systems Group at the European X-Ray Free Electron Laser (EuXFEL) in Germany and associate Editor of Physical Review Accelerators and Beams. Previously, leading the Insertion Devices Group at the KIT synchrotron, she steered the R&D program on superconducting undulators (SCUs), which are now commercially available from an industrial partner, Bilfinger Nuclear & Energy Transition GmbH.At KIT, Sara also contributed to the design of the Future Circular Collider. Prior to KIT, she worked on electron bunch diagnostics at DESY, and on superconducting radio-frequency cavities at the University of Hamburg. Sara studied physics at the University of Firenze in Italy and received her Ph.D. from the University of Bern in Switzerland.Sara is, and has been, a member of several accelerator review and advisory committees, and has served on organizing committees for various workshops and IPAC conferences. She is a board member of the photon sources group of the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS). At present, she is elected Member-at-Large of the APS Division of Physics of Beams (01/23–12/25). From 2017 to 2021, she served on the Editorial Board of Physical Review Accelerators and Beams. Sara is one of the 2023 Outstanding Referees of the Physical Review journals.
