Steffen Hauf leads the European XFEL Control Software Group. Following a PhD in Astrophysics on simulations for space-based X-ray observatories at TU Darmstadt, he joined EuXFEL as a calibration software scientist. After an appointment of interim technical lead for the Karabo SCADA system in 2016, he codeveloped the facility’s initial calibration toolchain. In 2019 he shifted back to Control Systems as team leader in the Controls group, becoming group leader in 2021.
