Direct SME involvement in BSBF2024 (SMEs Track Call)

The Big Science Business Forum 2024 (BSBF2024) is currently inviting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to express their interest in participating in a specialized SME Track during its event in Trieste, 1-4 October 2024. The forum recognizes the importance of SMEs in the European economy and aims to integrate them into the Big Science market, which presents unique challenges and opportunities.

BSBF2024 is expected to attract over 1,000 participants, including European Commissioner, national Ministers,  CEOs, R&D heads, procurement departments, and business developers. The forum will feature plenary sessions, parallel sessions on investment opportunities, 1:1 meetings, and exhibition spaces. It aims to be the perfect occasion for European businesses to discover viable innovation and business opportunities that align with their strategies.

The BSBF2024 SME Track is designed to provide a platform for those with relevant technology and capabilities to engage with Big Science research organizations, trying to address common barriers such as access to finance and the complexities of business development in this niche market. The goal of this initiative is to foster collaborations and uncover new business opportunities, offering SMEs a privileged position to maximize their participation in BSBF2024.

The selection will strive for a balance between different types of SMEs and ensure representation across various European countries and technological sectors, and will be selected by PERIIA (Pan-European Research Infrastructure ILO Association) taking into account various criteria, including previous contracts with Big Science organizations, involvement in R&D projects, and business development strategies aimed at the Big Science market.

This call is not only reserved to SMEs with contract already signed with Big Science Organizations, but also for SMEs interested in participating for the first time to call for tenders published by International research infrastructure, according to their professional experiences and companies competences (SME track call, category B). For this purpose it is possible to contact national ILOs – Industrial liaison Officers in order to be nominated in the procedure.
