He obtained a Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering in 2001, and a PhD in computer science from the University of Naples Federico II, in 2005. He carried out his PhD research at CERN, in the Magnetic Measurements and Tests group, with a focus on high-accuracy measurement systems for the superconducting magnets of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In April 2005, he became a staff member of the Sources, Targets and Interactions (STI) group, which led him to take leadership of the Equipment Controls and Electronics (ECE) section within the STI group, in 2008. From 2018 till 2021 he took the leadership of the Survey, Mechatronics and Measurements (SMM) group at CERN. Since 2021, he has been leading the Controls Electronics & Mechatronics (CEM) group at CERN. The CEM group develops and maintains a centralised competence in controls hardware custom design, low-level software & infrastructure support, electronic development/production & radiation tolerance, mechatronics & robotics, tests and measurement systems.
